Day 1 - Love

Today's entry is simply entitled "Love" after the song by Musiq Soulchild that I will use to begin this year of love.  I chose this song, because it talks about love in a broad way, and it was sorta my introduction to thinking about love when it first came out.  There are positives and negatives associated with love.  As in the video, it's clear that love is expressed in more than just the romantic sense, but when many people think about the word 'love,' the first association tends to be a woman and a man holding hands, kissing, being "in love" and involved romantically.  We all want and need love, but it's often the thing that we find the hardest to find in a positive and healthy way.  Life isn't healthy and whole without it, but so many people try to live without it, most likely because they've been hurt by its lack.  This leads to hurt people, and hurting people will always hurt others.

Part of the reason I decided to do this blog was to create a broader definition and perspective of love.  I would like people to see that real love comes in many forms and from many places.  For me, God is the starting point for love, but even if you don't believe in God, I believe that you deserve the beauty that is love as well, because everyone needs love, no matter what life has shown you.  Join me in this journey, and if you have thoughts, ideas, love experiences to share, please do.  I am by no means an expert or the only voice on love, and I'm more than willing to make this a communal effort.  I just wanna brighten people's lives a little bit with a little corner of love that will hopefully encourage and affirm all who come this way.
