So I was talking to one of my friends the other day, and she was listening to this song as we spoke. The song struck me, and I decided that it needed to be blogged about.
"People ask if I'm in love with you, because I'm sitting here with your picture and smiling to myself (I smile). I'm kinda lost in my own thoughts of you. My heart speaks before my mind thinks through and I blush as I say yes (yes).
What a feeling of vulnerability coming over me, and I'm feeling weak and I can't speak (speak) and I can't think. Never thought I'd give in so willingly to a human being with abilities to set me free, free, and let me be me. Makes me want to say..." I have definitely seen (and been in the place of) staring at a picture and being unable to do anything but smile. It's a warm, tender feeling to be reminded of the person you love. That love tends to be obvious to others, so it's no wonder the singer is being asked if she's in love. Of course, she can't deny it, and her heart speaks for her with a resounding 'yes.' The love has made her open and vulnerable, which can be overwhelming at times, especially when it's unexpected. She didn't think any person would have such an effect on her, but she feels that she has been set free by the relationship - free to be herself.
"Makes me wanna say: your lips, your eyes, your smile, your kiss - I must admit it's a part of me. You please me, completely, believe me, like a melody. Your soul, your flow, your youth, your truth is simply proof we were meant to be. But the best quality that's hookin' me is that you're loving me for me (loving me), is that you're loving me for me (ooh)." Because of the love and relationship that they share, she feels that all of her love is now part of her, down to even the body parts. She finds satisfaction and beauty in this relationship. The things that make her love unique and speak to the core of his being are further proof that they were meant to be, because they complement and pour into her. But the best part of it for her is that he loves her for who she is. This is critical for her as a celebrity, because she undoubtedly has millions chasing her for what she has. But I believe that everyone wants to be seen and loved for who they are.
"People ask why I'm in love with you. Well, let me start by saying you got my heart by just being who you are. And what we got is between me and you. It doesn't matter about the money I make or what I do, or that I'm a, huh, a star.
Unconditionally you're there for me. Undeniably you inspire me, spiritually, oh so sweet. This is meaningful, it's incredible, pleasurable, unforgettable - the way I feel, so surreal." So once she's answered that she is indeed in love, the question is asked why that particular individual merits such a relational response. She says that just the man that he is was enough to touch her heart. And the fact that he sees her beyond the status and material reality is that much more appealing. He is there without condition or contract. And he inspires her on a spiritual level. They are not just hanging out, but what they have has meaning and brings joy to both of their lives.
"It's so amazing how something so sweet has come and rearranged my life. I've been kissed by destiny. Oh, heaven came and saved me.
An angel was placed at my feet. This isn't ordinary - he's loving me for me." Many things can rearrange our lives, but it is pleasant and refreshing when it is a liberating love. When love operates as it should, it has the power to help save us from our insecurities and deepest issues. The person that Love places in our lives can certainly take on angelic qualities, especially when that person acts in accordance with the Divine Love that sent them.
"Stripped of all make-up. No need for fancy clothes. No cover ups, push ups. With him, I don't have to put on a show. He loves every freckle, every curve, every inch of my skin. Fulfilling me entirely, taking all of me in. He's real, he's honesty, and he's loving me for me. Yeah." With much of life trying to fit us into a given mold or encouraging us to look a certain way at all times, especially as a person in the public light, it can be extremely difficult to find an authentic moment to let your hair down. But when you can find a person who not only encourages that but loves you in that space, it can provide a kind of fulfillment and strength that nothing in life can compare with. When you are given the space to be yourself and you are loved in that space, it can do wonders for your self -esteem and make you feel like you can conquer the world and even handle those spaces that don't allow for authenticity.
