"Close your eyes, make a wish, and blow out the candlelight, for tonight is just your night - we're gonna celebrate, all through the night. Pour the wine, light the fire. Girl, your wish is my command - I submit to your demands, I'll do anything. Girl, you need only ask." For as long as I can remember, I have loved this song, and for the 100th day of the blog, I figure I'd celebrate with a little love-making. The scene set is an intimate one, complete with candles, wine, and a fire. The singer of the song is even saying that his love is in charge - whatever she wants to do will be the focus of the evening. Now, hopefully this is not the only time he listens to her desires and requests. But it is a beautiful sentiment nonetheless.
"Girl relax, let's go slow - I ain't got nowhere to go. I'm just gonna concentrate on you. Girl are you ready? It's gonna be a long night. Throw your clothes on the floor; I'm gonna take my clothes off too. I made plans to be with you. Girl whatever you ask me, you know, I'll do." The beautiful pieces in this are the comfort (relax) and the commitment (plans to be with you, long night). This is not a hit and run situation. It is about taking the time to truly appreciate the beauty and the desires of another person.
"Anything that you ask, I will give you the love of your life." For me, this line seems to encapsulate everything that the song is about for me - providing a life-changing love with physical expression. While I have had love shown to me in various beautiful ways, there is something about a physical expression of love that holds a special place in my heart, because physical touch is my love language. I believe that love needs all components to be complete - the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional. But I appreciate that this song talks about the physical in an uplifting and loving way.
"I'll make love to you like you want me to, and I'll hold you tight, baby, all through the night. I'll make love to you when you want me to, and I will not let go 'till you tell me to."
